In Genshin Impact, your Adventure Rank (AR) dictates your overall account progression. It is separate from the individual levels of your characters. Increasing your AR raises your World Level, unlocks new story chapters, and grants access to higher-tier domains that provide better rewards. Because many critical game features—such as co-op multiplayer and daily commissions—are locked behind early AR milestones, leveling up efficiently is a priority for new accounts. Progressing quickly requires balancing one-time exploration tasks with the daily management of renewable resources.

The Core Progression: Archon and Story Quests

The most time-efficient method for earning large amounts of Adventure EXP (AXP) early in the game is simply following the main storyline.

Archon Quests

Archon Quests are the primary narrative chapters of Genshin Impact. They provide the highest flat payouts of AXP available in the game. Completing a single act of an Archon Quest can reward several thousand AXP, alongside Primogems and character upgrade materials. These quests are mandatory for unlocking new regions, such as Inazuma, and specific weekly bosses. Whenever an Archon Quest is available in your quest log, completing it should be your highest priority.

Story Quests and Hangout Events

Story Quests focus on specific characters. Unlocking them requires Story Keys, which are earned by completing daily commissions. These quests offer substantial AXP, usually ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 per chapter. Hangout Events function similarly but feature branching dialogue paths and multiple endings. Reaching different endings provides AXP. If your Archon Quests are locked behind an AR requirement, completing available Story Quests is the fastest way to bridge the gap.

Daily Tasks: Commissions and Encounter Points

Once you reach Adventure Rank 12, you unlock the Adventurers' Guild daily commissions. Completing these is strictly necessary for maintaining a fast leveling pace over time.

Daily Commission Payouts

The game assigns four commissions each day. The amount of AXP rewarded scales with your current Adventure Rank. Early game (AR 12–15): Each commission grants 175 AXP. Late game (AR 60): Each commission grants 250 AXP. After completing all four tasks, speaking to Katheryne at any Adventurers' Guild branch provides an additional 500 AXP bonus. This means players can earn up to 1,500 AXP every single day just from this system.

Using the Encounter Point System

Modern versions of Genshin Impact include an alternative to manually playing the four fetch quests or combat challenges. The Encounter Point system allows you to complete your daily commissions passively. Opening chests, collecting regional Oculi, completing World Quests, or participating in limited-time events generates Encounter Points. Accumulating enough points automatically fulfills your commission quota for the day. This allows players to earn their daily 1,500 AXP simply by exploring the map naturally, saving significant time.

Spending Original Resin Consistently

Every activity that costs Original Resin directly translates to Adventure EXP at a fixed ratio: 10 Original Resin equals 50 AXP. Your account generates 180 Original Resin over a 24-hour period (though the cap holds a maximum of 200). If you spend this generated Resin every day, you secure a guaranteed 900 AXP. Letting your Resin reach the 200 cap stops regeneration, meaning you permanently lose out on potential AXP. Different activities require different amounts of Resin, but the AXP ratio remains identical: Ley Line Outcrops: Cost 20 Resin, reward 100 AXP. Domains (Artifacts, Weapons, Talents): Cost 20 Resin, reward 100 AXP. Normal Bosses (Regisvines, Hypostases): Cost 40 Resin, reward 200 AXP. Weekly Bosses: Cost 30 Resin (for the first three), reward 150 AXP. To level up quickly, always spend your Resin before logging off. If you lack the time to fight bosses or complete domains, convert 40 Original Resin into Condensed Resin at an Alchemy Table. This stores the Resin for later use, ensuring it does not cap, and still counts toward your progression when spent later.

Open-World Exploration

When you have exhausted your daily commissions, spent your Resin, and finished your available quests, exploration is the only remaining way to earn AXP.

Unlocking Teleport Waypoints

Activating a Teleport Waypoint or a Statue of The Seven immediately grants 50 AXP. Because the maps of Mondstadt, Liyue, Sumeru, and Fontaine contain hundreds of waypoints, spending a few hours strictly running across the map to activate them is a highly effective early-game strategy. This also makes future quests much faster to complete.

Upgrading Statues of The Seven

Scattered across the map are elemental orbs called Oculi (Anemoculus in Mondstadt, Geoculus in Liyue, etc.). Offering these to the regional Statues of The Seven increases the statue's level. Each level upgrade provides a massive burst of AXP, often ranging from 200 to 400 points, alongside permanent stamina upgrades in the early regions.

Opening Chests

Chests provide small amounts of AXP, but their sheer volume makes them a significant source of progression. Common Chests: 10 to 20 AXP. Exquisite Chests: 20 to 30 AXP. Precious Chests: 30 AXP. Luxurious Chests: 30 to 60 AXP. While actively hunting for Common Chests is an inefficient way to level up, stopping to solve puzzles or defeat enemy camps that guard Exquisite or Precious chests is always worth the time.

The Adventurer Handbook

The Adventurer Handbook contains an Experience tab with multiple chapters of milestones. These tasks function as a basic tutorial, asking you to upgrade a weapon, cook a meal, or defeat a specific type of enemy. Completing an individual objective grants a flat 100 AXP. Because a single chapter may contain ten or more objectives, finishing a chapter provides over 1,000 AXP. Always check the handbook when you log in and actively target the specific tasks required to complete the current chapter.

World Quests

World Quests are indicated by blue exclamation marks above non-player characters (NPCs) in the open world. Unlike Archon Quests, these are entirely optional and vary wildly in length. Some World Quests are simple delivery tasks that reward 100 AXP, while others are massive, multi-part regional storylines (such as the Aranyaka questline in Sumeru) that provide thousands of AXP upon full completion. Accept every World Quest you encounter. Even if you do not complete them immediately, keeping them in your quest log allows you to finish them passively when you travel to the required areas later.

Conclusion

Leveling your Adventure Rank quickly requires a mix of story progression and daily resource management. By prioritizing Archon Quests, spending your Original Resin every day without letting it cap, utilizing the Encounter Point system for easy commissions, and systematically hunting down Teleport Waypoints and Oculi, you will move through the early AR bottlenecks smoothly.
